Yes, they are!
Clear aligners can correct bite problems, including overbite, underbite, open bite, and crossbite. They can also fix gaps and crowded teeth. Some research even indicates that they may be more effective than braces. Their discreet appearance makes them popular among working adults and teenagers who want a less noticeable orthodontic option.
Clear aligners are not one-size-fits-all. They’re tailored to match your unique smile and the level of correction needed. Here’s how different cases can benefit from clear aligner treatment:
Clear aligners can be a great option for growing smiles.
Ideal for those with minimal dental issues.
Best suited for individuals with more pronounced misalignment.
Clear aligners can even handle challenging alignment needs.
From your first scan to your final smile reveal, every stage of treatment is guided with precision to help achieve comfortable and effective tooth movement.
Discover how your smile transformation unfolds step by step from your first consultation to your confident new smile.
Step 1
Book an appointment with a dentist at Hello Dental. During this visit, your dentist will examine your oral health, take photographs, x-rays, and perform a 3D intraoral scan to analyse your bite, tooth alignment, and facial structure.
Step 2
Using your scan data, a customised digital treatment plan will be created. You’ll be shown a 3D simulation of how your teeth will gradually move, so you can preview your future smile before treatment even begins.
Step 3
Based on your treatment plan, your clear aligners will be designed and manufactured to fit you specifically. Each set is custom-fit to guide your teeth into their desired position gently.
Step 4
Once ready, you’ll collect your aligners and begin wearing them for 22–24 hours a day, only removing them when eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing. You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every 1–2 weeks.
Step 5
Return every 6–8 weeks for progress checks and new aligners. Your dentist may add small tooth-coloured attachments to support movement. Once complete, enjoy your beautifully aligned smile.

The duration of your treatment depends on the complexity of your case; you could complete it in as little as 6 months.
It is recommended that anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back toward their initial position. Every case is different, so ask your doctor if you need retainers.
You should wear each aligner for 20 to 22 hours a day during your treatment for the best results and a timely outcome.
You will visit your dentist for a check-up approximately every 6–8 weeks to see how your treatment is progressing. During your check-ups, your dentist will check that the aligners are fitting well and make any adjustments if necessary.
You’ll be provided with enough aligners to last between visits to your doctor (usually 3–4 sets at a time). Your doctor will review your progress every 6–8 weeks, and new aligners will be given to you at these appointments. It’s best to speak to your doctor about how many aligners you will be provided with between visits.
No, you can usually eat what you want while in treatment because the clear aligners are removed when you eat or drink. Thus, there’s no need to refrain from your favourite foods and drinks unless instructed by your doctor. However, it’s recommended that you floss and brush your teeth after each meal and before reinserting your aligners to maintain proper oral hygiene.
It’s very unlikely that your aligners will ever fall out, no matter what you’re doing at the time (whether it’s sleeping, talking or laughing). Clear aligners are designed to fit firmly on the teeth, so this should not be a cause for concern.
Similar to other orthodontic treatments, the clear aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people for a day or two. However, as your tongue gets used to having aligners in your mouth, any disarticulation or minor speech impediment caused by the aligners should disappear.
Some people might experience temporary, mild discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is commonly described as a feeling of pressure. It’s a sign that the aligners are sequentially moving your teeth to their desired positions. This discomfort usually goes away a couple of days after you insert the new aligner in the series.
If you notice a sharp pain, or you experience significant discomfort, stop using the aligners and contact your dentist.
To keep your clear aligners clean, clear, and odour-free, follow these simple steps every day:
Store properly: When not in use, always keep your aligners in their protective case. Avoid leaving them in napkins, in pockets, or exposed surfaces to prevent damage or loss.
Let’s make your dream smile a reality, one aligner at a time.
