Custom Dental Veneers for a Perfect Smile (Malaysia)

Malaysia dental veneers offer affordable, high-quality, state-of-the-art facilities and highly trained dentists. Advanced technology like digital smile design (DSD) allows patients to preview and control their desired results, ensuring satisfaction.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are custom-made, thin porcelain or hybrid shells designed by a dentist to fit over the front surfaces of your teeth. They are used to enhance your smile and are a popular long-term treatment option  for cosmetic concerns such as:

  • Stains and discolouration that doesn’t improve with teeth whitening.
  • Chipped or broken teeth.
  • Teeth that are too small or misshapen.
  • Gaps between the teeth.

Teeth veneers are considered a conservative approach in cosmetic dentistry, as they require minimal tooth reduction. They provide long-term support, high-level aesthetic improvement by enhancing tooth shade, shape, and symmetry, effectively addressing most smile-related concerns.

Types of dental veneers

Dental veneers are available in two main types, each suited to different needs:

Composite Veneers

These are custom-made shells designed for durability and high aesthetics. They are ideal for long-term cosmetic improvements, including correcting severe discoloration, chips, or shape irregularities.

Porcelain / Hybrid Veneers

Composite veneers are thin layers of resin applied directly to the teeth. They are faster to complete, suitable for minor chips, mild discoloration, or small spacing issues, but may be more prone to staining and wear compared to porcelain.

A consultation with a dentist can help determine which veneer type best suits your dental needs, aesthetic goals, and long-term maintenance expectations.

Patient eligibility for dental veneers

Dental veneers are suitable for patients looking to enhance the appearance of their teeth with minimal tooth preparation. Ideal candidates typically have:

  • Healthy teeth and gums free from decay or active disease
  • Cosmetic concerns such as mild discoloration, small chips, minor misalignment, or small gaps
  • Realistic expectations regarding the improvements veneers can provide
  • No severe teeth grinding (bruxism) that could compromise the veneers

A consultation with a dentist can help determine whether porcelain, hybrid, or composite veneers are the best choice based on your oral health and aesthetic goals.

Benefits of dental veneers

Dental veneers provide a reliable and effective way to improve the appearance of your smile. Key advantages include:

  • Enhanced Smile and Confidence: Achieve a natural-looking, brighter smile
  • Correction of Cosmetic Issues: Improve shape, size, color, and spacing of teeth
  • Long-Lasting Results: Porcelain and hybrid options offer durable, stain-resistant solutions
  • Conservative Approach: Minimal tooth preparation compared to crowns
  • Quick Transformation: See noticeable aesthetic improvement in a relatively short treatment period

What is the difference between dental veneers and dental crowns?

Dental veneers are cosmetic dentistry that only cover the front surfaces of your teeth, and it functions to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. A dental crown, however, covers the entire tooth structure, giving it strength to support and aid biting forces of a weakened tooth, effectively preventing the tooth from fracture.

Here at Hello Dental Clinic, we prioritise a conservative approach, offering various prosthesis designs from full crown, overlay, onlay, inlay, to veneers. Our goal is to achieve long-term success in both aesthetics and function while preserving as much natural teeth structure as possible. As the saying goes, “Less is more”!

The process?

Generally, it takes several visits to complete a veneer treatment.

Consultation and Record Taking

During the initial consultation, we utilise an intra-oral scan (IOS) Along with high-quality photographs and videos of the patient’s face, smile, and teeth to comprehensively assess the patient’s current dental condition and aesthetics.

Radiographic imaging would be advised if indicated. These images serve as a baseline for comparison throughout the treatment journey and are essential for analysis and smile design.

Digital Smile Design (DSD)

An analysis of the facial features using digital tools will be done to determine the ideal smile design that harmonises with the patient’s unique facial characteristics.

It is then used to superimpose the proposed smile design onto the patient’s photographs or 3D models, allowing both the dentist and the patient to visualise the potential outcome before treatment begins.

Mock-up

After the digital smile design (DSD) process is completed, the next stage is often the mock-up procedure, in which a temporary mock-up or prototype of the proposed dental restoration is fabricated and placed over the teeth to simulate the final result.

The mock-up allows the patient to see and feel how the proposed dental work will look in their mouth. It also allows the dentist to make any necessary adjustments to the design before the final restorations are made.

Design and Plan Consent

During this visit, the dentist will present the golden ratio and the best smile design to you! There will be an interactive case discussion and before proceeding to the final step, consent will be taken.

Issue

Sometimes it takes 5–7 days, up to 2 weeks, for the lab to fabricate your custom-made veneers. Some clinics, however, do offer same day crown or veneer services, which will allow patients to get the dental restoration in one visit.

FAQs about dental veneers

It normally takes 2–3 visits to get veneer treatment. During your initial visit, you will receive a consultation, complete paperwork, and design your smile. The next visit is to prepare your teeth and place temporary veneers. The last visit is to have your permanent veneers put on. Some clinics offer veneer services on the same day for patients who want results quickly.

Yes, you can enjoy most foods with veneers. To maintain your veneers, avoid hard objects like ice or hard candies and foods and drinks that may stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, and red wine.

Veneers are usually permanent because a small amount of enamel is removed to place them. However, direct composite veneers are more conservative and can sometimes be adjusted, repaired, or replaced if needed. Your dentist will recommend the best type of veneer based on your dental health and the results you want to achieve.
